Jun Yan is a Professor at the Institute of Applied Ecology of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University. Following graduation, Dr. Yan completed postdoctoral training at Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Tennessee, and then worked as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Yan is interested in innovative biotechnological approaches for solving pressing environmental problems that affect ecosystem and human health. His research activities aim to explore the fundamentals of relevant microbial processes involved in the biodegradation and biotransformation of hazardous contaminants, in particular chlorinated solvents. Dr. Yan’s research has been funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (USA), the Hundred-Talent Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
