Principal Technical Consultant
James (Jim) Studer is a technical consultant and founder of InfraSUR LLC, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a registered professional engineer with over 35 years of international experience in applied contaminant hydrogeology and subsurface remediation and land restoration. With a focus on geo-environmental engineering, Jim has made significant contributions in the private sector, and at federal facilities or projects associated with environment, energy, and defense and located throughout the western USA. Jim has also led natural resources studies and supported transaction and technology due diligence, as well as pre-litigation and litigation files. He has led or supported numerous research-development-demonstration projects focused on saturated zone or vadose zone characterization, non-aqueous phase liquids removal, groundwater treatment, and monitoring.
Jim has a broad experience base with in-situ chemical reduction (ISCR), in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), in-situ biological treatment technologies, natural attenuation, as well as ex-situ treatment systems. Since 2012, Jim has led the commercialization and further development of the ISCR groundwater remediation technology Biogeochemical Reductive Dechlorination (BiRD). The underlying technology platform leverages iron sulfide chemistry and is applicable to many historically recognized and emerging contaminants alike.
An author of manuscripts published in peer reviewed technical journals and books, and speaker at numerous national and international conferences and workshops, Jim looks forward to once again alerting members of CEMS to advancements in the environmental remediation arena.
Jim holds a BS and MS in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas.
